President/Founder
Karen Smith has 27 years of experience in public schools which we will be serving. She is a former principal of 18 years, 6 years as a teacher, and 3 years as a highly skilled
educator for the Kentucky Department of Education. With a depth of knowledge about the lack of funding for teachers and the desperate need for materials, this has created a passion for helping serve those in need. Karen's expertise is in providing a positive climate. Her love for kids and teachers is the inspiration for founding Designing Classrooms.
CEO/Co-Founder
Patricia Sturgill has 32 years of experience in public schools. A former gifted and talented program director and reading first coach, helped develop professional relationships with educators across Kentucky. She also has in-depth knowledge about the needs of teachers and classrooms, especially the need for a classroom library with leveled books. Through the two positions, Patricia became aware of the need of resources for teachers. After retirement, she realized her passion by founding Designing Classrooms.
